Travel Tip: Flight Attendents Reward You When You Bring Your Refillable Water Bottle!

One of my essential travel items that I am surprised to see that most people don't bring along, is a refillable bottle. The last plane ride I took, not one other person on board brought one. But I convert several fellow passengers every trip to bring one next time without saying a word. Why? Because people take notice that the flight attendant fills my bottle to the brim with water while everyone else gets a small, ugly disposable cup full. The secret is that they do this everytime! People really appreciate when others are trying to protect the planet in small ways. For a long plane ride what a nice benefit.

Other Huge Perks to Bringing Along A Bottle While You Fly:

  • Ever wonder why a long day of traveling seems to make you feel tired, achy in your joints and muscles, experience lower back pain, headaches and constipation? All of these could be from not drinking enough water.
  • Did you know that when you are on an airplane your water requirements go up. Drink eight ounces of water for every hour you are on board the plane and soda does not count because it has caffeine. Stay hydrated so you can arrive at your destination raring to go.
  • According to wellness.com, drinking plenty of water allows you to maintain that mucosal lining which in prevents your immune system from becoming compromised.  You are better protected by drinking small amounts of water throughout your flight rather than drinking a large amount of water beforehand.  In addition, to keep the water in your system avoid diuretics such as caffeine and alcohol.
  • Save $5-$10 dollars a day by drinking water throughout your travel. By having the flight attendant fill your bottle or by filling at water fountains.
  • Keep control of your healthy eating during the day because one glass of water shuts down hunger pangs.
  • Turbulence! I don't sweat it. I just put my cap on. Can't do that with your plastic disposable cups. Not to mention they crack and leak sometimes.
  • Don't forget refillable water bottles are much more stylish than those ugly disposable bottles

The Best Water Bottles Have:
  • A lid that is removable for easy drinking and cleaning.
  • A loop or attachment piece that you can secure to your bag or purse is a nice feature.
  • A slim design that will fit into cup holders for car travel.
  • Made of recycled materials. My Aladdin pictured above the retails for $7 is made of 90% recycled materials, 22.5% post-consumer content.
  • BPA-free and Dishwasher safe.
  • Try to get one that holds hot drinks as well as cold
Cost Savings: $10 per month for 4 family members * 12 months = $480 per year. This is at a minimum. I travel at least twice a month out of town and I use my bottle all the time regardless of travel.
